Bharatnatyam Syllabus :
Bharatnatyam syllabus has been drafted by
the traditional Bharatnatyam Gurus who have devoted themselves for this
classical dance style. Karnatak Music, Tala, Abhinaya, Nritta, Nritya,
Stage movements have been incorporated in the syllabus. late Guru
Kadirvellu, Late Guru Ramaswami Bhagwatar, Guru Rajlaxmi, Guru Shri
Sethumadhavan and Guru Shri Ramnath Iyer were instrumental
during preparation of the course. Dr. Kanak Rele founder, member and
principal of Nalanda Nrityakala Mahavidyalaya has been source of
inspiration. Noted Musician Guru Shri Venkatachalam has helped in
composing music for v ariety of dance items. About 350 basic adavus are
included in the syllabus along with 15 dance items. About 350 basic adavus

adavus. Similarly, Hastabheda, Drishtibheda, Greevabheda, Padabheda,
different typoes of Abhinaya - Angikabhinaya, Aharyabhinaya, Vchikabhinaya,
Satvikabhinaya with reference to Abhinaya Darpanam and Natyashastra has
been included in the syllabus. Bharatnatyam examinatio nof our Institute
includes practical exam in which basic theoretecal knowledge of the
candiate is tested and are asked to demonstrate the items that they have
learnt.
Our Bharatnatyam course is of Eight years;
with effect from Silver Jubilee Year 2004. Each year is named as ;
Praveshika, Prathama, Dwitiya, Prathatmic, Upantya I, Upantya II, Vish
arad
I and Visharad II from Upantya I, there is written test along with
practical examinati on. The syllabus has been drafted taking care of each
aspect of Bharatnatyam. Most of the students join the Bharatnatyam Classes
as a hobby but later, some of them decide to take it as career. Hence of
syllabus is based on a career-oriented approach where every op portunity
has been provided for students to develop their hobby into career. Our
annual Bharat natyam programmes teach them the elements of choreography and
stage movements. Our exa mination system helps the student in achieving
perfection in their performances.
