About the Guru:

Guru Mrs. K. Shobhana is an accomplished Bharatnatyam Artist graduated in Bharatnatyam from University of Mumbai in 1978 under the able guidance of Guru Dr. Smt. Kanak Rele, former Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Mumbai. Later she received apt guidance from Guru Rajlaxmi and Guru Kadirvellu. She has also received training in South Indian Music from Guru Sethumadhavan. Guru K. Venkatachalam and Guru Ramswami Bhagawatar.

 

Guru Mrs. K. Shobahan is a founder director of Nalanda Bharatnatyam Nritya Niketan. She has devoted herself in Training Students in Bahratnatyam through this institute which is spread in and around Mumbai.

 

She is honoured with Thane Gunjjan by Thane Municipal Corporation and with Maharashtra Gaurav Puraskar in 2006 from Maharashtra Kala Niketan.
